Eleanor Harris Obituary

BREWSTER - Eleanor (Huebner) Harris died Saturday, April 7, 2007, at Pleasant Bay Nursing Home, following a short illness. She was the former wife of Chester Harris.

Ellie was born in Manchester, Conn., on July 15, 1915. She was the daughter of Freida and William Huebner. Ellie loved the game of tennis and was a top ranked women's tennis player in Connecticut.

Ellie worked for many years at Aetna Insurance Co. before purchasing the Temple Employment Agency, which she ran successfully for many years. Ellie retired to her beloved ''Way Off” in Wellfleet, where she spent many hours enjoying her marsh view.

Ellie loved to travel and traveled around the world. She was especially fond of Bermuda. Ellie was a collector and was devoted to the plight of the American Indians of the Western United States. She especially loved turquoise jewelry and pottery, and had an extensive collection. Ellie will always be remembered as a free spirit and never lost her wit or sense of humor. Ellie leaves many cousins and dear friends.

A graveside service will be held in Connecticut on April 27, 2007, at 1 p.m., at the East Cemetery.
