Eldis M. Christensen

Dr. Eldis M. Christensen, 94, was welcomed into Heaven on Oct. 11, 2016. He fought the good fight, kept the faith and has finished the race.

He was born Nov. 6, 1921 in Swaziland, South Africa to missionary parents, Magnus and Florence (Crawford) Christensen. He graduated from Wheaton College in Illinois where he met and married Martha Jean (Niethamer) who predeceased him in 2004. He served his country honorably as a member of the US Army and received his MD from the Univ. of Illinois and had a General Surgery and Family Practice in LaGrange, IL. He was a devoted husband and father who made it a point to attend most of our swimming, wrestling, baseball and twirling events. He cared deeply for his patients and routinely made house calls and accepted calls on the phone late into the night. He knew the Bible and was deeply committed to telling others of the saving grace of Jesus Christ. He was a member of Good News Church in Leesburg, FL. He was remarried to Mary Lou (Kaiser) in 2005 and had 11 more enjoyable years of marriage until she died in June, 2016.

He is survived by son, Dr. Gary (Karen) Christensen of Leesburg, FL; granddaughter, Jennifer (Matt) Grabowski, Holly Springs, NC; great grandsons, Bradyn, Camden, Christian and Collin; granddaughter Emily (Erick) Langenbrunner, Fruitland Park FL; great granddaughter, Laine; and great grandson, Wilson. Also, son, Dr. Greg (Diane) Christensen of N. Canton, OH and grandson Ryan. He is also survived by brother, Ralph, Erie, CO; and sisters, Genevieve Patterson, Lexington, KY and Virginia Carroll, Birmingham, AL.

He was also predeceased by his daughter, Karen Jerrick.

There will be a memorial service at 10:00 AM, Sat., Nov. 12 at the Beyers Funeral Home Chapel in Leesburg, FL with Pastor John Blake of Good News Church, Leesburg, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests all memorial gifts be made to Good News Church, 400 Executive Blvd., Leesburg, FL.
