Edward Kolar Obituary

Edward F. Kolar
Kolar, Edward F, age 84, passed away peacefully after telling his children how much he loved them. Ed joins his beloved wife of 39 years, Louise Kent Kolar, who passed away just 5 months ago. Ed leaves behind his son, Robert Kolar (Maureen), Linda Kolar, Jennifer Janis (Scott), grandsons Daniel Costalis and Christopher Kolar (Courtney), brother John Kolar (Liz), nieces, nephews and a grand nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Ian Kolar, and Scott Kolar (Cheryl).
Ed grew up in Oak Park, IL, attending Oak Park-River Forest High School, then Oberlin College, Ohio for his bachelor's degree and Northern Illinois University for his Master's in Public Administration. He was a dedicated civil servant, including serving 16 years in the United States Air Force, including Vietnam, Laos and in Thailand. He served as the Asst. Village Manager to the Village of Carol Stream and proudly served as a Village Board Member in Glen Ellyn, IL and Architectural Review Commission for many years. He was a 50+ year resident and loved the Village and everything Glen Ellyn. Ed loved photography, and later in life turned his talent of beautiful still pictures to accomplished paintings. He was most proud of his family and had many friends within his beloved church community and senior living facility. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 16 at 11:00 am at the First Congregational Church of Glen Ellyn, Illinois 535 Forest Avenue, Glen Ellyn, Illinois 60137, followed by a luncheon in Pilgrim Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or Wounded Warrior Project are greatly appreciated. in Glen Ellyn, IL.
