Edith Brown Obituary

TEWKSBURY -- Edith A. (Prescott) Brown, 77, a former resident of Westford, died Tuesday evening, Aug. 30, at the Life Care Center in North Billerica, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Lowell, July 4, 1928, daughter of the late Lester and Mary (Brown) Prescott. She was raised in Tewksbury, but had lived most of her life in North Billerica and Westford, before returning to Tewksbury in 1996.

She was remembered by her family as having enjoyed time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed Tuesday Night Bingo, luncheons throughout the area with a close group of friends who refer to themselves as the "Golden Girls," and traveling, including a Hawaiian "Millennium" Cruise with her entire family.

She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, JoAnn D. McAllister of Tewksbury, Sandra and Larry Souza of Mashpee; a sister, Eleanor Johnson of Billerica; two grandchildren, Petty Officer 1st Class Kirk Souza, USCG and his wife, Renee of Halifax, Mass., and Kelly Ann Buttaci and her husband, Dr. Charles Buttaci O.D., residing in New Jersey; five great-grandchildren, Alexander and Maddelyn Souza, Dean and Mason Buttaci, and Darren LeBlanc.

She was also mother of the late Richard R. Brown, the grandmother of the late Kasey Souza; and the mother-in-law of the late William "John" McAllister.
