Terri, Kevin, Tom, John, and Kitty:

It was a pleasure to work with Doug during the past fifteen years. My fond memories of Doug reveal a dediciated professional whose primary mission at the SEC was to protect the investing public. Also, Doug mentored his staff in a caring and thoughtul manner in pursuing our common mission. Doug will be missed at the SEC but he has left a positive and lasting legacy here. My thoughts and prayers are with you at the passing of Doug.

Terri, Kevin and Tom,
This loss is so devastating and hard to accept. Not only was Doug my best friend but he was someone I admired and relied on. Doug looking down on all of us now, is so proud of the way you all got through this difficult initial phase of our loss. Terri, you and the boys handled this with such dignity. Kevin and Tom, we all admire the way in which you carefully hovered over and took care of your Mom. We know that you will continue to protect her. Doug was my friend of 34 years. He was a stabilizing force for me through turbulent and wonderful times in my life. I miss him to the core. I will honor his memory by trying to be has good a husband and father as he was. Jean and I promise to be there for all of you.

Much love,
Joe and Jean Solon

Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss. I hope that the good memories will sustain you and uplift your spirits in this time of great sorrow and sadness.
Like many, I was shocked and truly sadden to hear of the unexpected news. Doug was truly a great manager. When he originally managed the IT staff, Doug was always approachable and patient. He had a peaceful way of calming down the most difficult situations. When his professional opinion or advice was needed, Doug’s door was always opened to us. His positive attitude, his thoughtful nature, along with his fun sense of humor will be greatly missed.

Doug, gone too soon, but will never be forgotten.

Terri, Kevin and Tom
I am so sorry for your loss. Doug was my boss, mentor, colleague, adviser and most importantly a friend over the last 17 years. He hired me straight out of college and taught me some of the most important lessons about being a professional and working at the SEC. He had a deep respect for the law, a desire to protect investors and an unflinching willingness to do what was right rather than just what was easy. Though we have lost Doug these lessons will carry on through me and anyone who was fortunate to work with him. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your loved ones.

My deepest sympathies go out to Doug's family and friends. I worked with Doug at the SEC from 2000-2005. I was right out of college, and didn't know a thing about how to conduct exams. I was lucky enough to work with Doug on some of my first exams. Doug had a big impact on teaching me how to be good at my job. Doug was a great manager at the SEC and a great guy to be around, and i was shocked and upset when i heard he passed. Doug had a positive impact on all of us at the SEC, and i feel fortunate to have known him. I will miss him.

Theresa, Kevin, and Thomas:

Although I don't know you, this is to let you know that I always enjoyed talking to Doug and working with him. The notice issued today by the SEC should give you much comfort.

"Doug was an outstanding employee, who brought commitment and excellence to all that he did throughout his career at the SEC. He was someone who could always be counted on to get a difficult job done in an efficient, organized and timely manner. In addition to his talent as an examiner and the subject matter expertise he developed over the years, he was a fair and supportive manager who accomplished much with little fanfare."

Doug was respected as a really good guy by all of the SEC Investment Management Managers across the country. I know you and the CRO will miss him during this turbulent time.

May God bless you and your family.

I am very sorry to hear about Doug. I have very fond memories of our college days, and always enjoyed the times we spent together. I will always remember how happy you both were, and how proud you are of your boys. Doug was a great man and will be truly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. John and Darlene Kiser

Terri, Kevin, and Tom:

Doug was a great man and the opportunity of knowing him was a great gift. He was a wonderful boss, friend, confidant, and mentor to me for the last 15 years and I will miss him greatly. Doug used the talents and gifts he had been given to serve the Commission well and he leaves a legacy and example that will be hard to follow. Of this, you can be very proud, just as I know that he was very proud of you, his family. As you mourn his passing, please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.
