Dorothy Peterson Obituary

Dorothy (Dottie) passed away peacefully January 29th at Alden Valley Ridge Nursing home after an amazing 91 years of life. Her life will be celebrated with a memorial service at St Marks Episcopal Church, Glen Ellyn, Saturday, February 13th at 2pm. Interment will be private. She married Harry "Pete" Peterson in 1941, was the daughter of JK & Ethel Marshall of 583 Hill Avenue where she grew up. She was a 1937 graduate of Glenbard High School and a 1939 graduate of Stephens College in Columbia Missouri. Dorothy's favorite thing to do was to play bridge with her regular foursome as well as with many different clubs. For many years she volunteered at Geneva Hospital and the Wise Penny Resale Shop. She also enjoyed doing needlepoint and some crafting. Above all, Dorothy's passion was spending time with her family and friends, especially if it included a cruise on the open seas or on the Paddle Boat along the Mississippi River. Good times followed her wherever she was. She was preceded in death by her husband "Pete"; son Bill Peterson; her parents JK & Ethel Marshall and brother Jack Marshall. Survivors are her daughter, Margaret (Keith) Schoen and son, Donald (Janet) Peterson. Grandchildren: Chris Schoen; Kim (Danny) Repetowski; Mike (Tara) Schoen; Jessica (Jim) Garcia; Jennifer (Dale) Phillips; Kristin, Lee, Billy and Jason Peterson. Great-Grandchildren: Courtney & Nikolaus Schoen; Logan, Dylan & Owen Repetowski; Becky & Andrew Garcia; Brandon Phillips; Nephew Kim (Consuela) Marshall and niece Candace (Jack) Gale. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Marks Episcopal Church, Glen Ellyn or the American Cancer Society.

Dear Peg, Don and family,

Our deepest sympathy to all of you on the passing of your mother and our aunt. I’m so glad that Colin got a chance to meet her. I will remember her fondly from our days as kids back in Glen Ellyn and Wheaton. We are keeping all of you in our thoughts and prayers.
