Dorothy Pedersen Obituary

Pedersen - Dorothy Jane (Simmons) passed away peacefully on June 9 at her home in St. Paul. Preceded in death by her husband, Thomas D. Pedersen; and daughter, Dorothy C. (Pedersen) Ryan. Survived by son, Thomas A. Pedersen; daughters, Nancy Pedersen and Lynn (Wayne) Hass; grandchildren, Duncan (Kris) Ryan, Angela (Chad) Barclay, Alex Gilsrud and Celina Pedersen; and 3 great-grandchildren. Born 1/17/25, she was a 1942 graduate of St. Paul Central High School. Dorothy believed it was important to volunteer and be involved in community organizations and gave freely of her time and energy. She was a longtime member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church and St. Anne's Guild. She served many years as a board member for the Merriam Park Library Association and the Merriam Park Community Center. She also volunteered her time to the Meals on Wheels program and helped to establish the Merriam Park Block Nurse program. As a board member of the Episcopal Church Home she helped to establish the assisted living program. Dorothy was a loyal, devoted and active member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was a Past Worthy Matron of the St. Paul Rainbow Chapter #276 O.E.S. and also served as a state representative. Dorothy also worked at Ramsey Hospital as a Ward Clerk for many years. She made countless friends over the years and held every one of them as special and dear to her. Her children know they were blessed to have her as their mother. Please join us for a Memorial Service to be held Monday June 17, 11AM at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 1895 Laurel at Howell, St. Paul (651-646-6175). In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to St. Mary's or to the charity of your choice.
