Donna Nagel Obituary

Donna M. Nagel
Born: March 31, 1944
Died: April 14, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donna M. Nagel, who left this world on April 14, 2025, at the age of 81. Born in Chicago, Illinois, on March 31, 1944, she was a beacon of love and kindness, deeply cherished by her family and community.
Donna's life was one of dedication and service. She spent over 20 years as an educator in the Wheaton School District #200, teaching kindergarten and first grade at Washington Elementary. Her passion for teaching inspired countless young minds, and her gentle spirit fostered a love for learning in her students. Donna's commitment to education was matched only by her commitment to her family.
In 1965, Donna met the love of her life, Frank Nagel, at Northern Illinois University while doing crossword puzzles. Their marriage spanned an incredible 58 years, filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support for one another. Together, they built a beautiful family, raising their daughter Kristen (Steve) Parker and son Eric (Kelly) Nagel. Donna's legacy continues through her grandchildren, Rhett Parker, Noah Parker, Reeghan Parker, Bodhi Nagel, and Kai Nagel, who brought her immeasurable joy and pride.
Donna was a vibrant member of her community, actively participating in the Winfield Jr. Women's Club, where she poured her heart into volunteer efforts. She had a profound love for reading and audiobooks, often found lost in the pages of a good book or listening to captivating stories. Traveling was another of her passions, as she cherished creating memories with her loved ones, often sharing tales of her adventures with those around her. Family was at the center of everything she did; she was a steadfast support system and a source of unconditional love for her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Frank Nagel; her daughter, Kristen (Steve) Parker; her son, Eric (Kelly) Nagel; her beloved grandchildren, Rhett, Noah, Reeghan, Bodhi, and Kai; her brother, Richard (Shirley) Schultz; her brother-in-law, James (Linda) Nagel; her sister-in-law, Elizabeth "Betty" (Doug) Black; and four nephews, all of whom will carry her spirit and teachings forward.
Donna is preceded in death by her loving parents, Dietrick and Frances Schultz, and her in-laws, Chester and Louise Nagel, who welcomed her into their family with open arms.
Donna M. Nagel leaves behind a legacy of love, education, and community service that will not be forgotten. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a proud grandmother, and a cherished friend. Though her physical presence will be missed, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held this summer. Please check the website for updated information. Memorials in Donna's memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL 60603. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 1801 S. Douglas Road, Oswego, IL 60543.
