Donald Hopper Obituary

Dr. Donald E. Hooper, 83, of Galena, formerly of Glen Ellyn, IL, died Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no public visitation and a private memorial service and family burial will be held at a later date in St. Michael's Cemetery, Wheaton. The Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena is assisting the family. He was born on April 29, 1928 in Chicago, IL the son of Harold and Dorothy (Harper) Hooper. He was united in marriage to Barbara Senne on June 14, 1952 in Glen Ellyn, IL and she survives. Don attended Indiana University and Northwestern University and graduated from Northwestern Dental School in 1953. He was a third generation dentist, following his grandfather and father. His grandfather was one of the founders of Northwestern University Dental School and his father graduated from there also. Surviving are his wife, Barbara; his children, Leslie Hooper (Patrick) Owens, John (Cynthia), Nancy Hooper, and Donald "Chip" (Laura) Hooper; grandchildren Steven and Allison Owens, Caroline Hooper, Kelly and Brian McMeans, and Max and Valerie Hooper; he is also survived by his sister, Murial Curran, and several nieces and nephews.
