Don was truly one of the kindest, most hardworking people I have ever met. I could talk chemistry with Don all day. He was so proud of what he did. I remember Don telling me how proud he was that he spent his entire career at Argonne. He will be missed!

Don Graczyk: my mentor my coach my friend
I am so sorry to hear of Don's passing. May the good Lord bless you and all your family during this difficult time.
I don't think their is another person in my lifetime that I technically learned so much from. Don and I would spend many minutes on the phone discussing analytical needs and results and what they mean. Helping me to understand nuances addressing, physical, chemical, and radioactive material and waste characterization.
I don't think there is another person in my professional career that showed me more respect, by sharing what they know. Early in my career, Don took the time to explain context, explain nuances and facts concerning analytical chemistry. I grew in knowledge. These lessons helped to solve problems and propelled my career. I am sure that I am not alone.
I went to him for help in addressing a very wide variety of issues and he was always able to provide solutions or ideas for getting at the solution. Don was a rare person with rare talent. Always willing to provide support, share perspective, even when he was terribly busy.
Don carried an immense amount of responsibility with his work and I am sure managed a lot of pressure. In spite of that though, he always was very kind. He was a role model and someone whose memory I will always treasure.
Don was a very dear co-worker and friend. When I think of Argonne, I think of Don.
God bless your family.

He was truly a good, kind soul, a leader by example, and always a blessing to those who knew him. May he rest in peace and may his family and friends find solace in our many memories of him. My deepest sympathy to Pat and family, and to everyone whose lives Don touched.

Dear Pat and Albert, I was sorry to hear of Don's passing. People come and go in our lives but I am so blessed that he was in mine for quite a while. I spent years in choir with him standing to my right. He really was my right hand man. The reason being was that he was always on pitch so I would listen to him and unknowingly, he helped me be a better singer, or maybe he did know I needed the help. I also worked with him, Ed, you Pat, and whoever else to help putting up the nativity scene in church. I was always amazed at how agile he was crawling around, climbing up and down to put everything up for Christmas. I also remember, Pat, how you and Don would invite me over just to chat and we might have a pizza. I so enjoyed his company and friendship. When I moved from Lemont I thought who could use a snow blower? I thought of Don since he was shoveling out the driveway. I hope it came in handy.
While you grieve for Don please know that he is in heaven with his mom and dad and brothers and sisters resting peacefully in the arms of God. If I can be of any assistance please let me know. God bless and care for you both.
