Dmytro Perun Obituary

AUBURN | Dmytro "Joe" Perun, 85, of Franklin Street Road, Auburn, died Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Auburn Community Hospital. Mr. Perun was born in the Ukraine on Sept. 26, 1926. He was the son of Nicholas and Mary Boncariwsky. "Joe" was a veteran of the Korean War having served with the U.S. Army's 71st Engineers. He had been employed as a welder and troubleshooter with L.A.B. of Skaneateles. He was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Church of Auburn; he was a life member of the Ukrainian National Club, where he had served as a past president; the Lemkos Society where he had also served as president, and a member of the Swietoniowski- Kopeczek Post 1324 of the American Legion. He enjoyed traveling and spending his winter months in Myrtle Beach, S.C. and years ago enjoyed snow skiing at local ski resorts. Joe is survived by his wife of 55 years, Donna Tucker Perun; a sister, Julie Spiewak and her husband, Michael, of Poland; three brothers, Emil Perun and his wife, Anna, Peter Perun, all of Poland; and John Perun and his wife, Stella, of Auburn; a brother-in-law and his wife, Ronnie and Pauline Tucker; two special nieces, Nancy Assmann and Lisa Millas; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Andrew Perun. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Monday, in SS. Peter & Paul Church. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fleming. Friends are invited to call on the family from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, at White Chapel Funeral Home, 197 South St., Auburn. Contributions in memory of Mr. Dmytro Perun may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of CNY, 441 W. Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204.
