Deborah Bateman Obituary

Deborah Anne Bateman, aged 71, residing in Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away on July 16th, 2022.

Deborah was born on July 23, 1950 in Hinsdale, IL and grew up in Downers Grove, IL. She studied English at the University of New Mexico and Eastern Illinois University. With a passion for helping others, Deborah began her career as a high school English teacher. Later she changed her career path, working as an Administrative Assistant at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago, and later at Hybritech in San Diego, CA, where she resided beginning in 1982.

At 45, Deborah began a new phase of her life, adopting a baby girl from China and becoming a single parent. A beautiful singer and pianist, she became a devoted member of the church choir at her local parish, Our Lady of Confidence. In 2004, Deborah, her daughter, and Deborah's parents moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico to live together. Through both cancer and advanced stages of multiple sclerosis, Deborah endured, continuing to show up for her loved ones and leading her life by example with kindness, caring, and compassion.

Deborah is survived by her daughter, Michaela Bateman, and many grateful relatives.

Memorial services are being held in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Sept.14th at 10:00am at St. John's United Methodist Church and in Downers Grove, Illinois on Sept. 22nd at 11:00 am at Downers Grove First United Methodist Church.
