David Parker Obituary

David (Dave) Alfred Parker

David (Dave) Alfred Parker, 63, of Snohomish passed away suddenly on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at his home.
Born on February 16, 1948, in Seattle, WA, David was the second of four sons to Jerry and Viola (Tazioli) Parker. He graduated from Cascade High School in Everett in 1966. Dave enlisted in the navy during the Vietnam War and served on active duty for 6 1/2 years. He entered the naval reserves flying the P-3 Orion aircraft where he completed a full 20 year naval career. Dave completed his B.S. in Engineering at Central Washington University. He worked at the Boeing Aircraft Company for 26 years as an engineer until his retirement in 2004.
Dave met and married the love of his life, Karen Parker (Wick), in 1983 and welcomed her three children as his own before they were blessed with two more children. Family was the most important thing to Dave. He was loved by all and cherished the time he spent with his family.
Dave is survived by his loving wife, Karen; father Jerry (Norma) of Lynnwood, WA; brothers, Doug (Cheryl) of Everett, WA; and Dale of Shoreline, WA; daughter, Viola (Derrick) and granddaughter, Lily Butler of Surprise, AZ; son, David of Snohomish, WA. He also is survived by his children, Kellie (Jim) and grandchildren Evan and Christine Eaton of Carnation, WA; Mike (Marti) grandchildren Ryan and Anthony Westcott of Ephrata, WA; Jeff (Jenny) grandchildren Ashleigh, Erin, Alea, and Emma Westcott of Lynnwood, WA. He is also survived by his niece Amanda (Jeff) Buntin of Stanwood, WA; nephews Nick (Carrie) Parker of Puyallup WA and Matt Parker of Seattle, WA and many other extended family members.
Dave was preceded in death by his mother, Viola; and brother, Danny.
Dave's engineering degree was not an accident. His joy came from building things on his own. To say Dave was a tinker and a planner would be an understatement. There was always a project in the works. The most impressive included the designing, digging, and constructing of a 20' x 40' swimming pool, complete with homemade solar panels. Others included constructing outbuildings, garages and pump houses, in addition to awesome igloos and playhouses for his children.
If something didn't quite work right, Dave could fix it! He enjoyed time spent outdoors, tilling the soil and marveling at the beauty nature provided. He was an avid angler and hunter in his youth and carried this joy of nature through his whole life, while on trips to Hawaii, the West Coast of the US, Mexico, and Europe with his family. Dave was fortunate to call his boyhood house home all his life; later he included property in Gifford, WA and a house in Surprise, AZ. He will always be remembered as a loving family man and a perfect husband.
A memorial service will be held at Floral Hills in Lynnwood on Friday, June 24 at 1:00 p.m. (409 Filbert Rd. Lynnwood, WA. 98036

Dave was my first lead @Boeing. What an awesome guy. I have lot of memories working with Dave. He always wore a hat coming and leaving work. Later in my career I'd see him leaving and always ask him where I could get a hat like his. A tan Everett Aquasox cap with Speedway Chevrolet Monroe on the side. He said I had to buy a new truck. Obviously someone in the family gave him this hat, because we all know Dave would not buy a "new" truck. After alot of hassling, Dave mentioned one day he would give me his hat when he retired. Well...one day in showed up at my desk in an in-plant mailer. I ran upstairs and asked where Dave was - retired yesterday - kept secret. I still have the hat.... the impression Dave left on me will last forever. God bless and leave the crutons off the salad for Dave's sake.

I couldn't believe it when I heard about Dave's passing. It seems like I have known him and his family forever. I have very fond memories of Parker and Karen. Parker always let us roll down his hill- in snow or sun. Then we'd sit around the table and listen to stories. Most memorable was the fishing trip when I was so sick all I could do was lay down. He and his family have been there for every important event in our lives as well as his own family. My heart goes out to his family who will miss him so very much

Karen and family, Les and Doris: We were greatly saddened to learn of Dave's passing. We knew Dave as a gentle man that cared a great deal for Karen and all of his family. We remember most and was speachless to see Dave do the "Funky Chicken Dance" in Yuma. May your spirits be uplifted having shared in his life and memories.

Dave was a wonderful man that loved his family. As soon as you met him you could see the love between him and Karen. The day I started dating their son Jeff, they welcomed me with open arms and as one of the family. His granddaughters, Ashleigh, Erin, Alea and Emma loved him so much. They loved spending as much time as possible with him, and looked forward to the summers so that they could spend more time with him and grandma. We will miss him but we will never forget what a wonderful father and grandpa he was. Always in out hearts!

As a child I remember spending lots of time at the Parker’s House, Dave always welcoming to all. When I would come over Dave would be hard at work on one of his projects. When he would take a break he would share the newest joke he had with you always seeming to join in with your giggles with his contagious laugh.
Super devoted man to family and friends he unknowingly taught me some valuable life lessons. Getting to visit with Dave and Karen after retirement was always a treat to hear the stories of their newest adventures.
Dave will be a much missed man by many and I am thankful that I have some great memories of him. My love and condolences to all family and friends in this very hard time.

I remember falling in love with Uncle Dave as a young girl, as soon as Aunt Karen introduced him to us. I have fun memories, like my brother Guy's famous quote, "Good charcoal, Parker" at five years old after eating his yummy bbq. Or pictures of him in his speedo on his backhoe. It was obvious that family was very important to Uncle Dave and remained his top priority always. We were all blessed to see how much he loved our Aunt Karen and all of his children; their marriage will always be an inspiration and hope to me. Dave was a loving and tender man; he had radar that picked up anyone who was hurting and in need of encouragement. He shed tears for the pain of others, he shed them a few times for and with me, and those times are still an encouragement to my heart. He brought so much to our family: unconditional love, generosity, creativity and fun. He brought joy to my precious Aunt and and cousins and for that I will be eternally grateful. I'm not sure I have ever met anyone as selfless and giving as Uncle Dave. We will all miss him so. I am so sorry for your loss, Aunt Karen, Kellie, Mike, Jeff, Viola and David and all of his precious family. My love to you all

Karen, our prayers are for you and your family in this time of great loss . Parker will be sorely missed. We had a lot of fun times welcoming in the New Year together. I've known Parker since Little League and he always had a smile, a firm hand shake, and a steadfastness about him. The world is a lesser place without you Parker!
