Muriel, I try to keep up with friends back in Wheaton by checking Hultgren's regularly. I always enjoyed my "brother Darrell" and we shared the same ideas about church, scripture and life.
Now a part of you has already gone ahead, and he will be waiting for you with open arms.
The tide recedes, but leaves behind bright seashells on the sand.
The sun goes down, but gentle warmth still lingers on the land.
The music stops, but echoes on its sweet refrains;
For every joy that passes, something beautiful remains.
Darrell left his footprints and influence on many lives and did so with a wonderful testimony to His Savior.
With our prayers,
Darrel & Arlene Anderson

Muriel, Praying that you will feel the presence of the Comforter in a very real way throughout these days ahead.
I was unable to attend the visitation or the memorial service but understand the testimony of Darrell was gloriously expressed.
Darrell no longer has to struggle for his next breath. I too look forward to that day!

Sincere condolences, Muriel, from your Wheaton classmates. We have appreciated those 'sightings' of you and Darrell off and on over the many years since graduation. DV we shall see you again on campus.

Darrell was a rational guy. Could talk to him about scripture, or the farm or whatever and have good dialog. Will miss his friendship...until we meet again in God's glory.

I'm happy that I got to work in Distrist 89 with Mr. Holsteen as superintendent. He was an honorable man. My sympathy and prayers are with the family. June Young

I'm so glad my mom married into the Holsteen Herd, and I got to reap the benefits of living nearby to Uncle Darrell and Aunt Muriel for several years. How many times did they pick me up at O'Hare Airport while I came and went from Wheaton College?
I remember spending New Year's Day at their home in Glen Ellyn in 1992, a day before our first born arrived at Central DuPage Hospital.
Most importantly, I will always be grateful for their faithful support of our mission work in Africa all these years.
I wish I could attend the funeral, but am sending my other half for that function as I must stay in Michigan for the time being. I'm sending my love to Aunt Muriel and the family, and my request for a visit sometime real soon now that we're settled back in Wheaton for the year.
To God be the Glory, great things He has done!

A good man...a life well-lived.
GodSpeed to one of my oldest Holsteen cousins. You and your brother Dalton were two of my Mom's (your Aunt Nellie Dyer) favorites. She's probably rejoicing with you and Dalton, and your sister Faith now. Give them all my love.
