Daniel C. Samyn, 83, of Lake Geneva, WI, formerly of Villa Park, IL, died Friday May 20, 2016 at Geneva Lake Manor Nursing Home. Daniel Cyril Samyn was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 12, 1933 the son of the late O'Diel and Alice (Fanter) Samyn.

He graduated from Proviso High School in Maywood, IL in 1951. He had worked for many years as a tool and die maker for the Molex Company in Lisle, IL. On December 26, 1993 he was united in marriage to the former Loretta McSweeney. Dan was a member of Saint Francis deSales Catholic Church in Lake Geneva and a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1647 in Lake Geneva. He enjoyed restoring British cars. He was a talented woodworker and a master clockmaker.

Dan is survived by Loretta, his wife of 22 years; five sons, Danny Samyn of Addison, IL, Steve Samyn of Mason, OH, Mike Samyn of Del Ray Beach, FL, Gary Samyn of Addison, IL and Jeff (Patti) Samyn of Bothell, WA; three step children, Karen (Jeff) Buhman of Villa Park, IL, Phil (Jennie) Edwards of Naperville, IL and Nancy Rittanbacher of New Lenox, IL; sixteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two brothers, Russ (Anne) Samyn of Arlington Heights, IL and Lee (Doris) Samyn of Palos Park, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be said Friday May 27, 2016 at Saint Francis deSales Catholic Church in Lake Geneva; Father Jim Scheurman will officiate. Burial will follow in Saint Francis deSales Cemetery.

Visitation was Thursday May 26, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Derrick Funeral Home in Lake Geneva.
