Daniel Mike McGonigal

With great sadness we announce the passing of Daniel "Mike" McGonigal of Berwyn, Illinois on October 18, 2023.
Mike was raised in Berwyn, with a large and loving family. As family was most important to Mike, he was a fierce protector of those he loved.
He was a strong-willed man who never missed a goal he set. His loyalty and kindness were his greatest qualities. He was determined to see the world, and he did a good job of getting to most of it. He loved to travel and did so every chance he got, spending a great deal of time in one of his favorite places, Phuket, Thailand. Much of his time there was spent with his lifelong friend, Tom Mladic.
When not traveling, Mike worked hard as a Real Estate Broker for many, many years. He was extremely dedicated to his work. So much so that he made it a family business bringing his daughter Shannon to the office and teaching her a great deal about life and business throughout their careers.
Mike had one granddaughter, Kahla. His all time favorite thing to do was spend time with his daughter Jessica and her husband Nick, making family memories with them and Kahla. One of his favorite trips was seeing all the magic at Disney with both Jessica and Kahla.
Mike is survived by his daughters, Shannon Schilaci and Jessica Fricano (Nick), and granddaughter Kahla Grima. His sisters, Mary Howell (John), Patricia McGonigal, Jean Smith (Ed), Katie McGonigal and Pam McGonigal (Tom). He also had many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Juanita McGonigal and his brothers, Tommy, Timmy and Jerry.
There will be a graveside service in the spring followed by a celebration of life. Details will be provided at a later date.
