Daniel Fredrickson Obituary

Daniel Paul Fredrickson Sr. died March 14, 2011, in Angoon with his family by his side.

He was born Oct. 21, 1961, in Juneau and moved to Angoon in 1980. He worked as a certified auto mechanic, logger, deckhand and commercial fisherman. He enjoyed gathering various subsistence foods for his family year-round.

His family wrote: "During Dan's life he was an awesome husband, father brother, uncle, grandfather and friend. He lived to fish and provided for his family. He had a smile that brightened a room and a heart full of love."

He is survived by his wife, Melanie Fredrickson; mother-in-law Verna Johnson; son Daniel Jr. and RaCean Shute of Angoon; daughter Lindsey Fredrickson and Walter Washington Sr. of Angoon; son Trevor Lee Fredrickson of Angoon; siblings Albin Fredrickson Jr., Kenny Johnson Sr. of Angoon, Carol and Darrell Austin of Hoonah, Agnes and Stuart DcAfango, Franice and Durke Lee Laura Fredrickson-Cooper and Donnie Wells of Juneau; grandchildren Daniel Fredrickson III, Walter Jr., Sam julius, Trevor Anthony and Maelin of Angoon; nieces and nephews Irl Fredrickson of Juneau, Nichole Fredrickson of Washington, Benny Johnson, Amanda Johnson and Ladonna Johnson of Angoon, Nathen See, Travis See of Angoon, Andrew Jamestown of Angoon, Matthew See of Juneau, Jesse and Dolton Wells of Juneau, Misty and Mike Pitaro of New Hampshire, Angnes Jr. and Adrianna DcAfango of Juneau, Nikka Mork of Wrangell, Beckhila White of Anchorage, Miranda Fredrickson of Juneau, Lorraine Hollend of Juneau, and Domnic Ryder White of Anchorage.

Daniel is preceded in death by his parents, Albin Sr. and Lorraine Fredrickson; grandparents Frank See Sr. of Hoonah and Bessie Weokulk of Juneau; father in-law Daniel Sr.; brother in-law Steven Johnson of Angoon; nephew Kenneth Johnson Jr. of Angoon; and great-nephew Julius Emmett Fredrickson of Juneau.

Pallbearers are Daniel Fredrickson Jr., Trevor Fredrickson, Irl Fredrickson, Durke Lee, Stewart DcAfango, Darrell Austin, Donnie Wells, Scott Hunter, Donald Johnson, Alvin Johnson, Benny Johnson and Dennis Jack. Honorary pallbearers are Cyril George, Joey Zuboff, Harold Huston, Daniel Johnson Jr., Allen Zuboff, Garfield George, Billy John, Verna Johnson, Liz McCluskely, Mable Jack, Theresa Howard, John Howard Jr. and Albert Howard.
