Clifford W. Erickson, 86, of Portland, died May 3, 2008, in Portland.

Cliff was born Dec. 15, 1921, in North Bend.

He graduated from high school and then served in the U.S. armed forces. He was a World War II veteran who served on the European front.

On May 11, 1946, he married Helen Haga.

Cliff worked his entire life in the construction trade and in 1982, he started his own business. Cliff and his son owned and operated Erickson & Son Construction, a general contracting business. Currently, Kim and Cliff's grandsons continue to operate the family business in the Portland area.

Besides his work, his special interests included bird hunting, fishing and training black labs. Most importantly, his family came first.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen; along with daughters, Christy and Vicky; son, Kim; grandchildren, Robb, Rachel, Kimberly, Debbie, Ryan and David; and sister, Bernice Ross.

Immediate family will be having a graveside service at Fir Lawn Cementery in Hillsboro.

The family suggests memorial contributions to a charity of one's choice.
