Clara Hopfinger Obituary

ANN ARBOR — Clara Blanche Hopfinger, 92, of Ann Arbor, died peacefully on Nov. 13, 2007, at her home in Ann Arbor, where she lived for the past 11 years with her daughter and daughter's family.

She was born April 15, 1915, in Frederic, the daughter of Lulu and George Hunter. Clara was the youngest of five children. Her two brothers, Robert and Francis; and her sister, Genevieve preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister, Ann.

Clara was married to Cornelius V. Hopfinger on Jan. 28, 1935, and they happily shared 55 years together, much of it in the home they built on Torch Lake in Northern Michigan. Cornelius preceded her in death in 1993.

Volunteerism was an important part of Clara's life. Among the many causes she supported, Clara was proudly recognized at both state and national levels for her service on the Advisory Board of Registrants for the Selective Service System.

She is survived by her sons, Anthony (Diana) Hopfinger of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Patrick (Cathleen) Hopfinger of Manassas, Va.; and her daughter, Mary (William) Crosset of Ann Arbor. Survivors also include her five grandchildren and her great-grandson.

Memorial and interment beside her husband, Cornelius in the Midland Old Calvary Cemetery will be private.

No flowers, please. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association and the American Diabetes Association.
