Christy Stigailo

Christy Stigailo (nee Gulbrandsen), beloved wife of Robert Vostal; wonderful mother of Beth Stigailo and Amie (Andrew) Elliott; dear sister of Gwen Lazzarini (Gulbrandsen); grandmother of Lilly, Ruby and Telulah Ripstra and Faron French; passed away Friday, January 23. Christy brought a playful exuberance to her various careers, concluding with her most recent position at the Glen Ellyn Public Library where she introduced the raising of Monarch butterflies to the staff and patrons, inspiring the construction of a butterfly garden. Christy attracted people through her creativity, positive attitude and humor, maintaining a sense of playfulness, curiosity and wonder throughout her life.

A gathering to celebrate Christy's life will be held at her home on Saturday, January 31, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers or donations, Christy would encourage you to make something from scratch, visit your local library, and go for ice cream.

She will be so missed .Anything a friend needed you only had to ask and sometimes she saw the need and volunteered before being asked. I loved her so much. Vaughan

Christy was always doing something and she always made everything fun. From gardening, cooking, raising butterflies, bubble machines, woodworking, bird watching, exploring new places, sitting in the front yard with neighbors and friends and Bob and Jack, playing Kings in the Corner, making cement leaves, painting, and numerous craft projects, the list is seemingly endless. Always there to help when needed, always there with a smile and ideas. I have had the pleasure of living next to her for nearly 32 years. I can't even imagine how life is going to be around here without her.
