We had a ball with the Scruggs family on our "dead end" street on Montclair Av. It was the perfect street to grow up on...catching fireflies in our jammies in the back yard at night, great Halloweens with homemade taffy apples, sledding down the Scruggs hill!
I'll always remember Mrs. Scruggs' beautiful smile, red lipstick, the cross she wore around her neck, her New York accent and her love of Ethyl Merman!
Our family loved your family..we had so much fun! Mrs. Scruggs lived life to the fullest and I know how much you will miss her presence..What terrific memories of a life well-lived!
Love,
Kathleen (Shaughnessy) Chaney

Christine was a great gift to the people of St. Petronille and prayed fervently for the priests who served the people there. She reminded me more than once that she was praying for me and the work that God would have me do in serving the needs of His people. She was truly a holy woman who was rooted in Christ and manifested His goodness for all to see.

I have fond memories of growing up on Montclair Ave and visiting your home often. Your mother was always so friendly to me and I still remember her New York accent.

For some reason, I still remember her liking the TV show "Barney Miller," and loving her New York accent when she said Baaarney's name!

One special memory I have is sledding down that "mountain" next to your house in winter. Ginnie created a great toboggan run there and we had such a great time as kids.

My condolences to all the members of your family at this difficult time.

I know your mom is laughing with Billy and Anne Shaughnessy in heaven right now.

Love, and thanks for the memories of our days together in Glen Ellyn. They will always remain special to me.

We are so sorry to learn this news. Christine was such a sweet, sweet lady. We remember her fondly. May she rest in peace, and may her immediate family be comforted by the consolation of God and the warm kindness of friends, including members of Scruggs Family Association.
