Charles Westphal Obituary

Charles Henry Westphal, age 86, a resident of Glen Ellyn for 18 years, formerly of Villa Park for 39 years, passed away Monday, October 5, 2009 at his home. Charles was born September 24, 1923 in Germany to the late William & Elisabeth Westphal. Mr. Westphal was an electrical designer for EMD Division of General Motors. He served during WWII in the US Army 1943-1945, serving in the Third Army under General George S. Patton. He received 5 battle Stars for service in Europe and Japan. Member of the Wheaton VFW. He is survived by his beloved wife Doris Westphal; loving children, Nancy Nicholas, Scott (Lee) Westphal, Pamela Nestel and Bruce (Serena) Westphal; cherished grandchildren Ryan, Evan, Brad & Trevor; fond brother of Henry, Eleanor Hayley, Eileen Rice, Muriel Esser and the late Irving. Visitation Friday, October 9, 2009 4-8pm at the Leonard Memorial Home, 565 Duane St., Glen Ellyn where funeral service will be held Saturday 11am with Pastor Welch from Christ Church of OakBrook officiating.
