Charles Smith Obituary

A retired bricklayer and a resident of Donaldsonville, he died at 6:07 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Gonzales. He was 62 and a native of Napoleonville. Visiting at Demby & Son Funeral Home, Donaldsonville, on Friday, Feb. 15, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Visiting at Greater Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, Donaldsonville, on Saturday from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Rudolph Mitchell. Interment in Donaldsonville Protestant Cemetery. He is survived by three daughters, Angeline Brooks, Nedra Vallet and Tonya Johnson; two sons, Edward and Charles Broom; four sisters, Florida Armstead, Leonise and Tina Murray and Margaret Mills; two brothers, Edward Smith and Johnny Murray; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, two aunts, three uncles and grandparents. He enjoyed various hobbies, including playing chess.
