Charles Libby Obituary

Charles Libby
Born: August 23, 1954 in Presque Isle, ME
Died: December 1, 2023 in Glen Ellyn, IL
Charles Woodbury Libby II, 69, of Glen Ellyn, passed away on December 1, 2023, after a brief illness. Charlie had the personality and natural warmth to make friends no matter the situation, and his loyalty kept friends close through the decades. He always knew what his old friends and neighbors were up to, and looked back on his childhood in Golfview Hills in Hinsdale with fondness. "Charlie kept every friend he ever made," his Dad used to say. A natural storyteller with a legendary memory, he was the family keeper of history and enjoyed long hours tracking down his Irish-English family genealogies.
After graduating Hinsdale High School, and graduating from Lewis University, Charlie worked for the U.S. Postal service 42 years, most of that time in Bolingbrook, where he was a friend to not only his co-workers but the people on his route.
In 2010, Charlie married the love of his life, Beth Whittington Libby. His love of art and history was shared by Beth, and they enjoyed hunting down treasures at local antique shops. They also loved gardening and filling their yard and home with flowers.
Charlie was a devoted caregiver to his parents, Roscoe and Clare Libby, throughout their lives and especially during their long illnesses. Charlie is survived by his wife, Beth, sister Angela (John) Jankousky, brother Jim (Tori) Libby, and brother Bob (Lori) Libby. He is also survived by nieces and nephews: Lora (Pearce Merritt) Libby, Jessica (Leo Gonzelez) Libby, Kate (Lisa Brownstone) Jankousky and Matt (Toni Gossett ) Jankousky, Patty (Jeff) Hefner, and Kyrie, Michael and Catherine Libby. He is also survived by grand nieces and nephews: Libby, Pyrrha, Leo, Ziamara and Harper.
The family will notify loved ones in the future when a service is scheduled.

Charlie and Beth were a wonderful pair. Adorable together and so loving. A matched set if there ever was one.

Charlie, my long time friend, you left us so quickly. When you called me to inform me of your illness, I didn´t realize that you´d be gone a week later. We shared many happy childhood memories, that nobody can ever take away. I know that you´re in a better place. I will miss the phone calls on each other´s birthdays. RIP my good friend!
