Family-Placed Obituary

HANSEN, Charles Russell (Chuck) age 82, went to he with God on Friday, June 25, 2004, after a short illness. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on Feb. 2, 1922, son of the late Charles and Bessie Hansen. He served as a meteorologist in the Army Air Corp. during WWII and was on Omaha Beach and all across France and Germany until the war's end. Preceded in death by infant daughter Lisa, brothers Willard, Edward and Kenneth and sister June Haugrud. A long-time faithful member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Vandalia, OH. He worked for the U.S. Weather Service and private Weather Consultants for a total of 50 years. Chuck is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Mae (nee McClelland), sister Dorothy Orr of Las Vegas, son Eric (Nancy), daughters Karen (Harvey) Eberg, Kristine (John) Zancourides, Janet (Gary) Prince, Laurie (Jim) Fletcher, granddaughter Gretchen (Dwayne) Wright, grandsons Jeremy (Tracey) Prince, Matthew Prince, Christopher (Sara) Hansen, John (Lori) Zancourides, Adam Fletcher, Dirk (Erin) Hansen, Karl Fletcher, Jason Zancourides and Sam Fletcher, and great-grandchildren Zachary, Sierra, Savannah and Karsynne. Chuck donated his body to Wright State School of Medicine. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, July 10 at 11:00 am at St. John's Lutheran Church, Vandalia, Pastor Gil Santiago officiating. The family will receive friends at a luncheon following the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. John's Organ Fund.
