Charles Gast Obituary

Charles H. Gast, age 92, a resident of Downers Grove, IL, former longtime resident of Berwyn, IL, died Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at his home. He was born April 20, 1917 in Chicago, IL. Charles is survived by his wife, Elsie M. (nee Schmidt) Gast of Downers Grove, whom he married July 12, 1941, two daughters, Gale (Dennis) Bakalik of Woodridge, IL and Joanne (Paul) Djurik of Downers Grove, his grandson, Ian Djurik, a sister, Myrtle (the late Earl) Tavenner of Crystal Lake, IL, several nieces and nephews and his loving caregiver, Nadia. He was preceded in death by two infant daughters, Diane and Gail Gast, his parents, Carl and Nora Gast and two siblings, Clara Gast and Ernest (the late Mildred) Gast. Charles was employed by De Laval Separator Co., Chicago for 35 years, retiring in 1979. Throughout his long life, Charles was a best friend to many beloved dogs. Visitation Friday, October 30, 3:00-8:00 P.M. at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. Funeral Services Saturday, October 31, 10:00 A.M. in the funeral home with Rev. Mark Schultz officiating. Interment: Mt. Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials to: Naperville Humane Society, 1620 W.
