Charles Brieschke Obituary

CHARLES GEORGE BRIESCHKE Charles George Brieschke (Chuck), age 78, of Sandwich, formerly of Western Springs, passed away August 2, 2013. Chuck was born in Detroit, Michigan, May 28, 1935. He graduated from Morton Township High School in 1953, and was drafted into the United States Army in 1958. Prior to his marriage to Nancy J. Dauer on October 28, 1961, he was drafted a second time to Fort Knox, Kentucky, and their married life began in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. After being honorably discharged, Chuck and Nancy moved back to La Grange, and Chuck began his career as a mechanic, and later as a shop manager for several major trucking lines. He retired from Conway Freight in 2000. Never one to sit for long, Chuck returned to work part time for Dale Johnson Farms, then moved on to Waubonsee Community College in the Automotive Technology Department. Chuck 's lifetime love of engines of every kind was known to all. "Cubes," a nickname from his younger years, was always ready to help family and friends with car or home repairs. His ever present love for swimming and boating was exceeded only by his love of building and flying RC planes. Over the years, he held several offices in both the Palos RC Flying Club and more recently the RC Dusters. Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Nancy, his son, Michael, his daughter, Caryn and four grandchildren, Emily, Katie, Sam and Nate. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ruth Brieschke and his sister, Glennel Nygren. Visitation with family will take place at Beverage Family Funeral Home 104 Terry Street, Sandwich, IL, Thursday, August, 8, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family for distribution to organizations that Chuck supported.
