Celeste Hallahan Obituary

Celeste L. Hallahan, age 89, of Geneva passed away Friday January 1, 2010 at Michealsen Health Center in Batavia. She was born February 2, 1920 in Chicago the daughter of Eugene and Angela (Piotrowski) Lang. Mrs. Hallahan grew up most of her life in the Geneva and St. Charles area. She was a graduate of Barat College in Lake Forest receiving her Bachelor's degree and of Northern Illinois University where she received her Master's degree. She started her teaching career in the West Chicago School District and also spent time teaching at St. Patrick's Catholic School in St. Charles. She had worked for the Little Traveler in Geneva and also was a very active member at St. Peter Catholic Church in Geneva where she devoted her time working at the Thrift Shop. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed. She is survived by her five children, Jill (Jim) Kramer of Chicago, Elizabeth Hallahan of Canada, Mary Oellrich of Chicago, James B. of Geneva and Jeremiah Hallahan of Wisconsin; Seven grandchildren, Leslie (Eric) Selbach, Jim (Carrie), Peter (Regina), Sarah and Ellen Kramer, Margaret Oellrich and Harley Hallahan. Proud great-grandmother of six; sister of Terry Ward. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Betty Dempsey and her husband Joseph; her brother, Nicholas Lang; her brother- in-law, Charles Ward and by her husband, James C. Hallahan. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated Thursday January 7, 2010 at 10:30 am at St. Peter Catholic Church 1891 Kaneville Rd. Geneva with Father Martins Emeh Celebrant. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Geneva. Visitation will be held Thursday January 7 from 9:30 am until the time of Funeral Mass at the church.
