Catherine Celeste Malon

Catherine Celeste Malon, "Kay", (nee Enright), a 50 year resident of Stickney, IL, formerly of Chicago, passed away after a very courageous battle, on September 29, 2018. Kay was 86 years old.

Beloved wife of Fred W. Malon for 66 years. Loving mother of Fred, Ron, Rita (Paul) Wolak and Linda (Larry) Vaden. Proud Grandma and Nonnie of Freddie, Brittany (Mike), Marc, Alyssa, Brandon, Derek (Star) and Kaylie. Dear sister of the late Joseph (Rosemary) and James (Jan) Enright. Loving aunt to Cindy, Celeste, Bernadette, Michael and the late Larry Enright and all of their children. Dear sister in law to the late Norman (Beverly) Malon. Fond aunt to Steve (Sherry) and the late Anne (James). Most loving and fun cousin and niece to many Lullos. Dear and life-long friend to Marilyn and Barb and the late Darlene. Dear coworker to the late Carmella Hannigan and the late Rita Shafran.

Kay was born in 1932 to Michael and Susie (Celeste) Enright in the south side Englewood neighborhood of Chicago, where she attended St. Justin Catholic School and Harper HS and eventually met and married the love of her life, Fred Malon. Kay was a devoted wife and mother, daughter and sister. She maintained close relationships with all of her family and friends throughout her life. She was known for her fabulous cooking, especially her trays of cookies and Nonnies brownies. Kay loved to gather family and friends for celebrations and hosted Christmas Eve for 56 years. She worked at MacNeal Hospital for 28 years, retiring in 2000 to spend more time with her family. Kay will be missed by so many.

Please join us as we gather together to celebrate Kay's life and share our memories on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Adolf Funeral Home, 2921 South Harlem Avenue, Berwyn, Il 60402. Visitation from 3:00 until 4:30 pm followed by a Catholic service and dinner on site. All are welcome between 3:00 and 7:00 pm.
