She was one of those special ladies who always stood out in a quiet sort of way. No surprise that she became such a leader in her field and an inspiration to so many people.

"Catly" touched so many lives in such wonderful and profound ways. I have so many memories from when we were kids and teens. She watched over me with a loving heart at our last class reunion when I had my own health challenges. Sharing the same career and love for nursing and our patients, we had an inner connection others in medicine will understand.
I looked forward to her frequent entries on Carinbridge. They sometimes made me laugh or cheer, and many times brought worry and tears. I knew what the subtle changes in her health indicated very early, and my prayers would take on new urgency. My heart would ache when there were long delays between messages, searching daily for some word. The last delay I felt an emptiness,an absence, a heartbreak.
I, as so many, will so miss her.
With loving memory, Mary

Cathy inspired me everyday with her postings on caring bridge. As a nurse for 35 years her frustrations with the medical system were so real to me. She wrote beautifully. In high school she was exuberant and full of life. My deepest sympathy to her boys and her family.

Everyone who knew Cathy remembers the joy she brought to everything she did. I was lucky enough to have her as a friend in high school, and here in California and I will miss her a lot. She has left behind two wonderful sons and I know they will make her proud.

I shall always recall the smile and the youthful love of life from this beautiful person. As a classmate and friend at Illinois Wesleyan, Cathy was a delightful young woman who went on to distinguish herself by helping others as a dedicated nurse. She will be missed by all of us whose lives were enriched by having known her. She will never be forgotten. God bless you and keep you, Cat

My deepest sympathies to those fortunate enough to have had her in their lives. I write with a deep sense of loss as a Glenbard West Classmate who remembers her fondly.

I followed Cathy's postings on Caring Bridge and was amazed at her strength, spirit, and courage as she journeyed through her illnesses. My sadness in her death is tempered with my admiration for her life. I hope that her family and friends find comfort and peace.

My sincere condolences to the family and friends of Catherine Luginbill at her recent passing. Even though she was a year younger at IWU and in Nursing while I was in Music, the campus always seemed to feel as if we were one big family regardless of our major. Blessings.
