Carol L. Bonus
Carol L. Bonus, 80, of Glen Ellyn passed away May 22, 2021. She was born in Chicago and grew up in Brookfield, IL. Graduated from Riverside-Brookfield High School, Class of 1958. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Harold W. Bonus; Loving and devoted mother of Maria and Kurt Bonus; Daughter of the late Joseph and Lillian (nee Stochl) Vavrina; Dear sister of the late Roberta Perina; Fond aunt to many nieces and nephews; Dearest companion of Elvis the dog.
During the Vietnam War, Carol moved to Heidelberg, West Germany, in order to support her husband, who was stationed there as a Captain in the US Army Dental Corp. at the Army Headquarters.
For many years, Carol worked in her husband's dental practice in Glen Ellyn. She worked as a Certified Dental Assistant and also as a Practice Administrator. Additionally, Carol became a member of the Certified Dental Assistants Association.
Carol was a very patriotic American and a proud Army mom to her son Kurt. Additionally, Carol was a Brownie and Junior Girl Scout Leader as well as a Cub Scout Leader Den Mother. Carol was also known as "Caterpiller" at the Cantigny Girl Scout Day Camp where she taught arts and crafts.
Carol was an active member of St. Petronille Parish where she led a rosary group on Tuesday evenings with her daughter. In addition, Carol participated in the ministry of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on the First Friday of every month.
Visitation Thursday, June 10, 4 PM - 8 PM, at Leonard Memorial Funeral Home, 565 Duane St., Glen Ellyn, IL. Prayers at 9:30 AM on June 11 at Leonard Memorial Funeral Home with a procession to follow to St. Petronille Church, 420 Glenwood Ave., Glen Ellyn, IL for an 11 AM Funeral Mass.
Interment will be at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton.
Donations in her honor may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38102 or Mass Intentions.

My heart goes out to the family. Dr bonus was my dentist growing up . His wife was always so patient with me when I had to get work done on my teeth. Rest in peace.
