Byron Teats Obituary

Byron L. Teats, age 48, of Oswego, IL formerly of Downers Grove, IL died Sunday, January 10, 2010 at his residence. He was born January 24, 1961 in Aurora, IL the son of F Gale and Carolyn M. nee Askew Teats. Mr. Teats attended Longfellow and Pierce Downer elementary schools and Herrick Jr. High School. While in Jr High, Mr. Teats began a lifetime career racing go-carts or anything with wheels, building, repairing and racing go-carts up until his battle with cancer began. He was a member of the Class of 1979 of Downer Grove North High School, where he ran cross country and was on the wrestling team. Mr. Teats graduated from the Oklahoma Horse Shoeing School at the top of his class. He worked as a Ferrier, horse trainer and played polo in the Naperville area before moving to Arizona. Mr. Teats owned a business in Arizona selling automotive additives to auto repair facilities. He also played semi-professional baseball in Arizona. In addition to his parents of Oswego and formerly of Downers Grove, IL, he is survived by a son, Timothy M. serving in the US Navy and in specialist training at Great Lakes Naval Station; a sister Betty Marshall of Oswego, IL; a brother Bill (Debi) Teags of Longmont, CO; three nieces, Schiavonn Hasslinger, Amanda Foshee and Antoinette Marshal; two nephews, Mark Marshall and Nigel Teags; a great-uncle, many aunts, uncles and cousins and former wife/best friend, Kriste Stalzer Teats. A celebration of Byron's life will take place in the Phoenix, AZ area at a time and date to be determined later. Memorials may be directed to either Seasons Hospice or Prostrate Cancer Research. Arrangements are entrusted to McKeown-Dunn Funeral Home, Ltd & Cremation Services of Oswego, IL. For information 630/554-3888.

Remembering go-karts and mini bikes growing up with Byron as a kid. Longfellow school, Pierce Downer and then bumping into Byron years later and having couple beers together at Rosie O'Grady's.
