Burton Alfvin Obituary

Burton Richard Alfvin, 86, of Sun City West, AZ, formerly of Elmhurst, IL, peacefully passed away on June 11, 2009. He was born on July 1,1922 in Chicago, IL. Burton served in WWII from 1942-1945. He returned from the war and graduated from Cornell College in Iowa. He then married Barbara Jean Gale on September 25, 1948. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Burton was in office furniture sales and ended his career as the president and co-owner of Desks, Inc. in Chicago, IL. He was able to retire to Arizona in 1983. He thoroughly enjoyed playing golf, horse shoes, table tennis, bowling and cards. He also loved to travel and spend time with family and friends. He was loved by all and will be dearly missed. Burton was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Reynolds Alfvin and Marion Bernice Alfvin; and sister Jean (Alfvin) Vogel. Burton is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; children, David Burton Alfvin of Milwaukee, WI, Debra (Alfvin) Hill of Peoria, AZ; Mary (Alfvin) White married to David William White of St. Charles, IL. His 6 grandchildren include: Erik Alfvin of WI, Kevin and Erin Hill of AZ, and Kelsey, Daniel and Jackson White of IL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to: Episcopal Church of the Advent, 13150 Spanish Garden Drive, Sun City West, AZ 85375 or Hospice of the Fox Valley, 14066 W. Waddell Road, Surprise, AZ 85379.
