Burdette Goff Obituary

GOFF D.D.S., BURDETTE JEFFREY Burdette Jeffrey Goff, D.D.S., passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2003 after a long illness. He was 61 years old. Dr. Goff graduated from San Diego State College (University) and subsequently graduated from the University of the Pacific Dental School in San Francisco. He then completed his internship and residence in the field of oral surgery at Mt. Sinai and Elmhurst hospitals in New York City. He worked as an oral surgeon for 17 years in the greater San Diego area before retiring in 1988. Dr. Goff was an active member of the San Diego Dental Society. He also served as a volunteer member of the Flying Samaritans, flying a number of missions into Baja to help provide free dental care to the less fortunate people in that region. An avid sportsman and athlete, Jeff enjoyed fishing, hunting, skiing, and golfing. He and his wife Merrily, a flight attendant, were married for thirty one years and during that time enjoyed traveling to various destinations around the world. It was a special pleasure when their three daughters accompanied them. Since Jeff had earned his commercial pilot ' s certification, the Goffs also enjoyed many private aircraft trips to mountain resorts in Idaho, Utah, and Calif., as well as to the desert resorts in Baja. Dr. Goff is survived by his wife Merrily, and their three daughters Kristen, Jennifer, and Kathleen. Also survived by his stepmother, Shirley Goff of San Diego, a half sister Jerdone Duprau of Hemet, California, as well as two cousins, Hallock Woolfolk of Hemet, and Deborah Frazier of Honolulu. Reception to be held at the 94th Aero Squadron on Sunday, August 24, 2003 from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to either the Alzheimer ' s Association or to Hospice.
