Bruno Poznanski Obituary

Bruno S. Poznanski, age 91, of Downers Grove, passed away at his home. Beloved husband of the late Irene Poznanski, nee Skarzynski; dear brother of Halina Poznanski, Wanda Latosinski and the late Edward Goral of Poland; dear brother-in-law Charlotte (the late John) Hacholski of Westchester, the late Jeanne (the late Joseph) Sowinski and the late Stella (the late Joseph) Bator of Chicago. He will be remembered by many nephews and nieces here as well as in Poland; great uncle of many. Mr. Poznanski a native of Poland fought against the Axis powers in Italy, where he joined the Polish Corps. After the war he went to England where he received his College Education. In 1958 he was transferred to the Head Quarters of Universal Oil Company in DesPlaines, IL, where he worked until his retirement in 1981. He was a member of St. John Council #3788 Knights of Columbus, served as Grand Knight and became Sir Knight in 1976 and later joined the Sir Knight Club. He also was a member of the Polish National Alliance, Chicago Chapter of PMA. Aside from loving his wife Irene, there were two things in life he loved to do, and that was to play golf and bowl. As competitive as he was on the golf course he never went a round without enjoying the beautiful scenery golf had to offer. He will be remembered most for his faith, affection and devotion to his church serving as an usher, minister of hospitality for the last several years. Visitation Monday, April 11th 3:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral Tuesday, April 12th 9:30am from Adams-Winterfield & Sullivan Funeral Home, 4343 Main Street (1 block South of Ogden Ave.), Downers Grove to St. Mary of Gostyn Church. Mass 10:00am.
