Bruce John Kullen, age 83, passed away on April 15, 2015, in Aurora, IL. He was born May 20, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois the son of the late Bruno and Eugenia (Bielawski) Kullen.

Bruce was a 1949 graduate of LaGrange Township High School in LaGrange, IL, attended Lyons Township Junior College, 1949-1951 and went on to attend Indiana University, majoring in journalism, 1951-1952. He was united in marriage to the former Carol Altheide on October 17, 1953 and they were divorced in July 1985.

Mr. Kullen served his country in the United States Army, as a Private First Class (Radio Specialist), Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri and Newbury, Berkshire, England, 1954-1956.

Bruce was employed as a technician, later technical writer and editor, at Argonne National Laboratory, 1958-1981. He was a Webelos Scoutmaster, Troop 55, Downers Grove. Bruce was raised in Western Springs and later moved to Lyons, Downers Grove, Lisle, and Sandwich, IL. He was an artist and oil-painter; unpublished non-fiction and semi-fiction writer; barbershop quartet singer and student of the trombone, loved classical music; dogs rather than cats; and always wished the best for his children and grandchildren. Bruce was a life-long liberal and progressive thinker; he had a deep and abiding respect and love for humanity -- it was just people he didn't like. Bruce had few heroes in his life, but they included Franklin D. Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, Sir Edmund Hillary, and Leonard Nimoy.

Bruce is survived by his sisters, Carole Prichard and Arlene Somer; his brother, David; his former wife, Carol Kullen; his children, Karen Stone, Nancy Manley, and Douglas Kullen; his grandchildren, Andrew Stone, Michael Stone, Michele Manley, Robert Manley, Katherine Kullen, and Matthew Kullen;
