Bonnie Zahn Obituary

Bonnie Zahn, age 86, former 60 year resident of West Chicago, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2011. She was born on February 6, 1925 in Blackberry Township, IL to George and Bernice Birkett. Bonnie was united in marriage on June 29, 1946 to Mel Zahn. She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in West Chicago. Bonnie worked for 30 years at George J. Ball Inc. in West Chicago as a supervisor and retired in 1987. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading and was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan. A special thank you to her caregivers at Inspirations and CNS Hospice. Bonnie is survived by two daughters, Cindy (Ken) Klug of Mountain Home, AR and Janet (Mike) Perso of Batavia; grandchildren, Kelli Klug (fiancee Ryan Phillippi), Kevin (Gera) Klug, Aaron and Daniel (Nicole) Perso; and many nieces, nephews relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mel, in 1999; parents; 1 brother and 4 sisters. Visitation was held on Friday, August 5, 2011 from 4 to 8 pm at Norris-Walen-Segert Funeral Home, 132 Fremont St., West Chicago. She will lie in state on Saturday, August 6, 2011 from 9:30 AM until time of service at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 331 George St., West Chicago. Reverend David Balla officiating.
