Masayoshi Robert Matsui entered into rest on Oct 20 2011 at the age of 90. Bob was predeceased by his wife of 56 yrs Eileen in 2004. He is survived by his five children, Karen Echeverria (Danny), Bradley (Linda), Dale (Sue), Sterling, and Heidi Lipp (Steven) and nine grandchildren Born and raised in Watsonville Ca. Bob served his country in WWII. He worked at Gousha Maps while tending to his strawberry ranch in Campbell. He later worked and retired from the County of Santa Clara. In his earlier years he was active in Little League Baseball and CYS. In his retirement years enjoyed playing golf and watching Mitty High School Basketball. Bob could be found at his favorite donut shops or the Campbell High School track during the week. Bob's joy in later life were his grandkids. He loved and was proud of every one of them. Bob was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed. Services will be held 7 pm Friday 10/28 at the San Jose Buddhist Church 640 N. 5th St.

So sorry to hear of your loss. We will miss seeing him in in the stands cheering on our teams. More importantly, I will miss him stopping by my office with strawberries and candy for my kids and being excited to get a AMHS Booster Pass. A life well lived, my family and I will miss him.

My deepest condolences to the Matsui family. Bob was a very big influence on my childhood as a baseball coach and later in life as a friend. He will be missed immensely!
