He was awarded numerous medals for bravery including three bronze stars for heroism, for putting himself in harms way to save the lives of others, a trait he carried on through out his life. On July 23, 1971 he met the woman he called the love of his life, Peggy Kaumeyer. They were married on March 30, 1972. He said his life truly began the day he met her. In 1973

they moved to Longview with her parents, fulfilling one of his lifelong dreams. In 1975 they built their home in Toledo. In 1976 they opened The Auto Shop which is still in business at 11th & Florida. Throughout the years he has been active in the community teaching at LCC & coaching his sons soccer teams. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and past President of the Lewis County Youth Soccer Association. Bob and Peggy had two children whom he absolutely adored; Christi who recently became an attorney and after passing the bar exam was admitted to the Washington State Bar Association and Bobby who is a senior at Washington State University Business School in Pullman with a double major. He loved attending his children's athletic and academic events, never missing one of them. He also loved & cared for his dogs & cats opening his heart and home to any stray animal who was lucky enough to cross his path. He enjoyed woodworking, watching his beloved Seahawks with his son and spending time at home in the country. He was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Richard and Lauretta Kaumeyer with whom he was very close. Memorial contributions

may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 312 1st Ave SW, Castle Rock, WA 98611. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 3, 2004 at the Lone Hill Cemetery in Toledo with the Rev. Robert M. Ross officiating. Fir Lawn Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

I'm sorry Peggy, Christi and Bobby. I know your husband/dad will be sorely missed. Although I hardly knew him, he must have been a good man to have helped build such a good family.

Bob was a great friend. I enjoyed every conversation I had with Bob and wish there were more. As others have mentioned, you could always count on Bob's honesty and integrity as an individual and a businessman. I will miss Bob very much. My prayers and thoughts are with you.

Peggy and kids ~ We can't begin to express how heavy our hearts feel for you and your family. Bob was the most honest and trustworthy man I think we've ever know. We were fortunate enough to know Bob not only through "The Auto Shop" but through school sports as well. What a kind man! We ALWAYS felt comfortable sending customers his way, knowing we could trust him to always, always do right by anyone. Bob...you were a stand-up guy and will truly be missed, but all the hearts you touched will always feel your presence!

My heart is grieving for Peggy, Christi, and Bobby. Bob was such a loving, gracious spirit who adored his family and treated everyone with respect and dignity. The city of Longview has just lost an honest business man who treated his customers with the type of fairness that comes only from a person with integrity. I hope his family values and work ethics enfluenced everyone he met. Your family will be in our prayers.
