Betty Joyce Stange, nee Katz, 77, a longtime Hinsdale resident, passed away on January 1st, 2020 surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Arthur. Loving mother of four wonderful children, Mark (Jeff), Marcie Purcell (Kirk), Erik (Arletta), Andrew (Tyler); proud Grandmother of Elenore Stange-Wallace; Logan, Jorie, Eden, Griffin and Marin Purcell; Matthew, Braiden and Mikayla Stange; her brother Donald (Karen) Katz.

She was born in Oak Park, Illinois to the late Robert and Janet Katz and was raised in La Grange Park. She attended Forest Road School and graduated from Lyons Township High School in 1960. She attended and graduated from Southern Illinois University and was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She taught at LaGrange Highlands Elementary School and married Arthur Stange on July 18th, 1965 after a Christmas Eve proposal.

Throughout her life and especially in her fight with metastatic cancer, she carried her love for God in her daily life. Her role as wife, mother, and grandmother were the most important thing to her. This is where she drew her strength and left her legacy. She treasured spending time with friends and family enjoying nature, roses and watching beautiful, colorful sunsets over Lake Michigan and the Gulf of Mexico.

She enjoyed working alongside her husband at Stange's Pharmacy in Western Springs where she oversaw retail sales. She had a passion for antiquing and creating unique crafts. She delighted in being able to share her knowledge of art as a school picture lady and later to her grandchildren. She never stopped teaching.

She is most beloved and will be deeply missed.

Memorial service at Christ Church of Oak Brook on Monday, January 27th, 2020 at 10:30 am. Private interment at Bronswood Cemetery, OakBrook.
