Betty Schultz Obituary

BETTY WEDGE SCHULTZ Betty Wedge "Wedgie " Schultz passed away on June 17, 2013. Wedgie is survived by, and was the loving mother of Laurie Gatley and Tracy Gergi. She was the dear grandmother of Clinton Stegman and Kristin Gergi. Her two son-in-laws are Dan Gatley and Steve Gergi. Wedgie was born on June 22, 1922 in Chicago, IL, as a fraternal twin. She was raised in Lombard and attended Glenbard High School. She received a BA from Purdue U. and Masters at U of Missouri. She met her husband, Stanley, at Purdue, and they were married in 1944. He and Wedgie owned the 'Village Stationers ' in Glen Ellyn for 17 years. She excelled in her career as a Social Worker to aid countless children and families. She was truly blessed in natural beauty inside and out, a woman of amazing grace and strength. With her positive attitude, she carried an eternal smile and fond enthusiasm for others. She had passion for all the Arts. She was loved by all and will be dearly missed. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, June 22 (her birthday) at 1 pm at Wyndemere Senior Living Campus, Anderson Auditorium. 200 Wyndemere Circle, Wheaton, IL 60187. Arrangements handled by Leonard Memorial Home, Glen Ellyn, 630-469-0032

Wedgie was my mentor and an inspiration for all of us who were doing the difficult work of child welfare. I will hold her in my heart always, as I'm sure many will.
