Betty Malmgren Obituary
Betty Topel Malmgren passed away on July 7, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.
She is survived by her two children, Barbara (Robert) Marshall and Scott (Christine) Malmgren, five grandchildren, Jenna (Lee) Olson, Brian Marshall, Dean (Kathryn) Malmgren, Clark (Rachael) Malmgren and Graham (Amber) Malmgren, and five great grandchildren.
Betty, who was 92, was the wife of the late Robert A. Malmgren. She had been a resident of Wheaton for sixty years, prior to moving to The Meadows in Glen Ellyn in 2011.
A graduate of Lake Forest College, she had operated a Ben Franklin Store, sold real estate, and been active in any number of organizations, many of which she served as President, including the Wheaton Garden Club, PEO Chapter of Wheaton, Art Institute Associates of Glen Ellyn-Wheaton, and Glen Oak's Ladies Auxiliary. She had been a member of Glen Oak CC since 1956. She loved golf and was a skilled gardener and an avid reader. She was devoted to her family and will be dearly missed.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, July 12, from 2 to 4 PM at Leonard Memorial Home, 565 Duane St. Glen Ellyn.

In lieu of flowers, Betty supported the International Essential Tremor Foundation and the American Heart Association.

Dear Barb and Scott,
Your mom was such a fixture on Gamon Rd. I have fond memories of her in her garden when I went visiting all the neighbors when I was little. She was a big part of the widows group, of which I was an honorary member. Betty was a gracious hostess and a great cook. She is one of the last of the old Gamon Rd. and she will be missed.
