Betty Klanda Obituary

Betty Klanda

Betty Klanda, age 93, a resident of Santa Clara, CA, formerly of Brookfield, IL joined her beloved husband, Charles; and brother, Steve (Fodor) on April 25, 2017.

While working at the Sloan Valve Company in Chicago post WWII, she met her future husband, they wed, and eventually settled in Brookfield. Chuck's sudden death in 1968 was something she never got over, busying herself with American Legion and VFW activities and happy vacations with her daughter. In 1980, she moved to Santa Clara, where she was an ardent bowler, bingo player, Sharks & A's fan, and PBS mystery watcher. In her California career, she won a Good Hands Award from fellow Allstate Insurance employees' anonymous votes. She was stunned and grateful for the honor.

Survived by daughter, Betty (Larry Whaley); nephew, Jay & family; and "spare daughter" Claire Gibson & her brood.

Services have been held, burial took place in Woodlawn Cemetery, Forest Park. Donations to the Brookfield Zoo would make her smile.

Special thanks to Dr. Nora Woiwode & all who helped us in the battle against & care during her dementia and decline.
