Bernadine Carter Obituary

Bernadine M. "Bernie" Carter, age 73, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, died Monday, December 14, 2009, at her residence. She was born December 28, 1935, at Lemont, Illinois, to Albert and Anna Garbolski Zolecki. On September 3, 1955, she married Thomas E. "Tom" Carter in Lemont, and moved to Promise Land, Arkansas in 1981. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister, she also was a devout Catholic, was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Mountain Home, and was a former choir member and was a 50-year member of the Altar and Rosary Society of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Lemont. She was a volunteer EMT with the Oakland Promise Land Fire Department, was a member of the Oakland Area Improvement Association and enjoyed crafts and reading. She was a homemaker. Survivors are her husband: Thomas E. "Tom" Carter, Sr.: of the home; three sons: Tom (Kim) Carter, Jr.: Mountain Home; Greg (Pam) Carter: Lockport, Illinois; and John (Julie) Carter: Mountain Home; two brothers: Albert (Theresa) Zolecki: Plainfield, Illinois and Bernard (Helen) Zolecki: Lockport, Illinois; six grandchildren: Sarah (Michael) Wingfield; Jackie, Gregory, J.C., Jake and Jaden Carter; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation from Noon-9:00 P.M. Thursday, December 17, at Roller Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6-8:00P.M. A Vigil Service will be at 7:00 P.M. Thursday in the Roller Chapel. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday in St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church with Reverend James Fanrak as celebrant. Private entombment will be in Baxter Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of St. Peter's Church or Hospice of the Ozarks.
