I have always loved Benet and always been with him even when he was sick and dying. I also love his family and am so sad that two of there sons have passed. Benet and I were in the Franciscan Order and Seminary together!

Benet gave a lot to this world while he was with us. His St. Louis friends, like me, will miss him greatly. His life was well lived and I'm grateful to have known him.

Benet and I became good friends in St. Louis over the past few years. He was a caring, inspiring and good-humored priest, and I will miss all our discussions. Rest in peace, dear friend.

His contributions to the Franciscan heritage were immense and invaluable. What he couldn't do with a typewriter, and eventually a computer, if he had an hour to spare! Benet was a pleasure to work with, and I thank the Lord for all he was able to do, in a major way, for the Secular Franciscans of the English speaking world. Rest in peace, dear brother -- we were all proud to be yours.

Fr. Ben and I have been friends since high school days. We worked together in the 1970s to promote the Secular Franciscan Order in the USA. Ben went on to become an international leader and author for the Secular Franciscans. We have been long time friends and I will miss him. Bill D'Arcy
