BARBARA MAYELL Obituary

Barbara E. Mayell, 88, of Boght Road, Watervliet, died suddenly at Albany Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, April 21, 2010. She was born in Colonie, educated at Cohoes High School and graduated from Mildred Elley School. She was the daughter of the late Egbert and Grace VanVranken Mayell. She retired from General Electric Company in Schenectady and Pittsfield after many years of service and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. She was a longtime member of the United Church of Cohoes and a longtime Sunday school teacher at the United Church of Cohoes. She was a past recipient of the Times Union Volunteer of the Year Award and was a member of the Auxilians and Volunteers of the Eddy Cohoes Rehabilitation Center for many years. She is survived by her sisters, Janet (Donald) Waite of Burnt Hills, Anne (Paul) Hahn of Schenectady and Marilyn (George) Blackett of West Melbourne, FL; she is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and many special friends. Funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the Dufresne Funeral Home, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes, with Rev. Nick TeBordo officiating. Interment will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie.
