Audrey Smith Obituary

Audrey Helen Smith, age 74, of Elgin, formerly of West Chicago, passed away Friday, July 17, 2009. She was born in West Chicago on September 18, 1934 to Paul and Verna Wegener. Audrey was a Varsity Letter graduate from West Chicago High School. She was united in marriage on September 24, 1955 to Arthur Henry Smith. Audrey was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She worked many years in the cafeteria at West Chicago High School and later worked at the deli at Jewel foods. Audrey was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed telling jokes. Audrey is survived by her son Kenneth Smith of Chicago and one sister Janice (late Keith) Miller of MN. She is preceded in death by her husband Arthur in 1969; two sisters; Norma and Lorrainne and one brother Earl. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 20, 2009 from 4 to 7:30 pm at Norris-Walen-Segert Funeral Home, 132 Fremont St., West Chicago. She will lie in state on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 from 9:00 AM until time of service at 10 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 331 George St., West Chicago. Rev David Balla officiating.
