Arthur Neubauer Obituary

Arthur William Neubauer, 78, a longtime resident of Downers Grove passed away May 7, 2008 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. Arthur was born December 24, 1929. He graduated at age 16 from Tilden High School. He received a degree in Electrical Engineering from Valparaiso, IN at age 18. Arthur was employed at the University of Chicago at age 18 when work was being completed on the first nuclear reactor. He was employed at Argonne National Laboratory for 25 years as the Manager of the Computing Division, Physics Equipment Pool, High Energy Physics Division and at Fermi National Laboratory for 28 years as Manger of the Instrument Repair Group. He received numerous awards during the course of his employment and was promoted to the Headquarters Group General years before retiring. His top priorities were always his family and friends. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 11, 2008 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 301 75th St., Downers Grove. Services Monday, May 12, 2008 at St. John Lutheran Church in Darien where he will be lying in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Interment Clarendon Hills Cemetery in Darien. Beloved husband of Dawn, nee Stuart; Loving father of Arthur Edward, Lawrence Allen (Nancy) and Cynthia Lynn (Thomas) Royce; brother of Helen (Edmund) Nenne and the late Ronald (Patricia) and grandfather of 9.
