Anthony P. Longo, age 90, of Clarendon Hills, IL, passed peacefully in his home Tuesday, February 28, 2017.
Born on September 11, 1926 in Chicago, IL. Son of Joseph and Frances (Delisi) Longo. Devoted husband to Margery (Johnson) for 66 years; loving father of 14 children, Beth (Dale) Hardiek, Dave Longo, Phil (Kathy) Longo, Matt (Penny) Longo, Ann Cilla, Gina (Tom) Meyers, Sarah (Pete) Malik, Tom (Candy) Longo, Jon Longo, Quyen (Doug) Nguyen, Alexcia Gonzales, Fred (Marianne) Longo, Marthony (Ben) Bert; 29 Grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Chris Marie; and his two sisters.
He served as a corporal in WWII Army Air Corps. He was proprietor of Ace Hardware in Clarendon Hills for 36 years; President, Chamber of Commerce; former owner of Longo's Plato Market general store in Plato Center, IL; co-founder of The Compassionate Friends - West Suburban Chapter; Scout leader; member of The Prairie Club; member Firehouse Seniors coffee clutch. Tony was beloved by his family, friends and his community. His greatest passion was sharing his love of nature with his family at his farm in Plato Center, IL.
Visitation is 4:00 to 8:00 pm Sunday, March 5th at Adolf Funeral Home, 7000 South Madison St., Willowbrook, IL. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Monday, March 6th at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 64 Norfolk Ave., Clarendon Hills. Interment, Assumption Cemetery.
