Died: July 25, 2014
Anna Fogel (nee Leston), age 93, of Valparaiso, IN formerly of Elmhurst, IL passed away peacefully on July 25, 2014.
Anna was a lifelong resident of Elmhurst until 2005, when she relocated to Valparaiso, IN. She was born August 20, 1920, to Stephen and Cecilia Leston.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; daughter, Mary Fleck; eight brothers, Joe, Steve, Tony, John, Charlie, Louie, Frankie and Georgie Leston.
She was a graduate of York High School class of 1939. Anna retired from Beeline Fashions as a Quality Control Inspector after 20 years. Anna was active in her church Mary Queen of Heaven with altar preparation and was the schools uniform seamstress. Her love of family and faith were values she instilled in her children and grandchildren. You would often find her in the garden nursing her flowers and vegetables, proudly sharing her end products. Baking and cooking were her joy, no one ever left her home on an empty stomach. If you ever needed something sewn mom was always there to mend the problem. She enjoyed reading, especially her bible, and daily walks. Her laugh was contagious and her sense of humor would light up the room. She was a gentle and giving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Surviving are her daughters, Pat (Jim) Glynn, Sherry (Bill) Miller, Sandra (Jim) Wall, Jean (Tom) Page, and Terry (Jeff) Gantzer; ten grandchildren, Carol, Linda, Cindy, Jamie, Bryan, Andrea, Eric, Dan, Amy and Greg; fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am at Mary Queen of Heaven Church in Elmhurst, IL on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, followed by a private graveside service.
Memorials may be made to VNA Hospice 2404 Valparaiso St, Valparaiso, IN 46383 or to the donor's choice.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway Chesterton, IN 46304.
